DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LEGAL AND NON LEGAL TESTS
Legal DNA Paternity Testing
Legal DNA Paternity Testing is the most popular choice. You do NOT have to have a court order and the only individuals needed for testing is the alleged father and the child. Legal DNA testing follows a Chain of Custody, which will provide you with a court admissible document that can be used for child support, custody, changing the name of the birth certificate, etc.
Non-Legal Paternity Testing
Non-Legal DNA Paternity Testing will provide you with results that are for your peace of mind. Legal DNA Testing can mail the recipient a DNA kit, which includes instructions and a pre-paid postage envelope. The process is done in the comfort of your own home where the recipients can collect their own samples at their own convenience. For those who would like a professional to take the samples, we can also furnish testing at a paternity testing center near you.
Things to Know About Paternity Testing
Genetic Markers
The more genetic markers the test completes, the most accurate the results. All of our testing is performed with 21 genetic markers.
Certified Labs
Is the Lab ABBA Certified? Not all labs are Certified. Legal DNA Testing labs are certified by the ABBA. We are also ACLASS Accreditated, ASCLD/LAB, and College of American Pathologists (CAP).
Court Admissible Testing
Do I need these results for legal reasons? Is there any chance I might need them in legal form in the future. Deciding before testing is necessary so that you do not waste money on insufficient testing.
Still Pregnant?
Prenatal DNA testing may be done for both legal and non legal purposes. The mother must be at least 9 weeks into her pregnancy to be able to detect the fetal cell DNA present in the mother’s blood.
